OF THE OTHER WORLD. ENCOUNTERS
Siendo el encuentro un paso imprescindible para que se produzca cualquier relación e intercambio, la exposición plantea esta primera sala como un espacio divertido y provocador. Los encuentros de los elocuentes retablos quimbaya con diversos personajes creados por el hombre en relatos variados: el medio humano medio vulcaniano comandante Spock, el capitán Kirk, el reportero Tintín, un pariente de Alien… figuras principalmente de ciencia ficción, producen sonrisa y extrañeza. El extraterrestre es un Otro genérico, nunca inferior al ser humano. Un Otro que expresa el anhelo, el miedo y la fascinación que compartimos los humanos sobre seres que inventamos y situamos en otros mundos.
The projection of excerpts from science fiction films leads us to different visions of a future that was, now future past, that will never take place. The idea of kitsch retro futurism permeates throughout this series, giving us clues about the mythical constructs that surround human interaction.
"Del otro mundo" brings together a series of works in which the extraterrestrial and the image of pre-Hispanic art are combined to metaphorically represent intercultural encounters and misunderstandings.
