"Plataforma de Lanzamiento" (Launching pad). 1992

"The artist was invited by Galería El Museo to participate with a special work in a tribute show to the recently deceased Alejandro Obregón. Nadín Ospina then produced Plataforma de lanzamiento II -Dedicada a Obregón (1992). Consciously and for the first time, he assembled a set from existing elements. On a triangular table he placed an authentic black ceramic Tairona condor in direct allusion to the famous Obregón condors. On the lower shelf of the table was a plate of red chocho seeds and on the walls, flanking the table, two lines of blue neon that evoked the horizontal strokes of the disappeared painter, as well as his sense of light. The neon glow was, at the same time, a stellar sign that could be related to the take-off of the condor, a take-off that, like the seeds, evoked life in the midst of the mourning inspired by death. The fact of gathering and recontextualizing all these elements helped him to understand which was the path to follow. From now on he would no longer model anything with his hands, nor would he create new forms with clay. Like the Italian transvanguardists, he would stick to the vast repertoire of images inherited from the past. By approaching subjects in this way, the idea of refiguring definitely came to the fore, acquiring strength and splendor."
